It's so odd when you come back from holiday and all the roads and buildings which you've only been away from for a few weeks, maybe a month, don't seem like yours any more. I find this even more odd because I live on an island. I used to be certain the boat must have dropped us off somewhere else.

Odd.

It must be interesting to live on an island. I live very, very far away from the sea, in a region which is almost entirely landlocked, and so many of the cities here are identical because they're all so boring . I mean , I don't think someone who lives in , say, London or Amsterdam would feel this?
Or would they?

European cities are definately all very distinctive, purely because they have many more years of history than you woul in the US. That said I can't really compare to most of America (having only been to Orlando and Tampa FL) but I have to say, from what I saw, many of the cities are SO samey. Of course I spent most of the time wondering why they were all so huge: you know that like your main streets have two lanes on each side of the road? There is only one stretch of road here which does that. That's why I'm too scared to go to university in London. I'd die!
