Fun new music! anonymous July 7 2008, 06:24:38 UTC
Well, this falls in the "Not-So-New, But New To Me" song category. Somehow I've stumbled upon stellastarr's "My Coco", which was apparently released on their self-titled album in 2003. I think someone put it on a mix CD for me, because it randomly popped up in my iTunes last week. And I am obsessed. That song is like Blondie + The Cure + Talking Heads + Erasure. Which of course, equals a big fat box of AWESOME. Maybe you'll check it out and think so too. It's perfect poppy summertime audioheroin. Especially when you're driving.

Also, if you like your music a little folkier, I can recommend The Watson Twins. Their Southern Manners EP is really good, as is their most recent release, Fire Songs (which, by the way, includes an amazing cover of "Just Like Heaven".) You can listen to samples on iTunes.

Happy listening!

Excellent recommendations! I'll definitely get "My Coco"... "poppy summertime audioheroin" is my new favorite phrase. I'll check out the Watson Twins as well, as folky is good in the summer too! Thank you so much!

Er, add to that fangirl the 43 year old who had Dr Who finale dreams all last night, after watching the finale last night. I catch myself feeling sad, and then have to remind myself, it's a show, dear, just a TV show, David Tennant and Catherine Tate are fine.

They are fine! And, they are both doing some theater, which is about the only reason I will accept that they are not on television. And the promo for the Christmas special is out already! I can last. I CAN.

You do that too? Feel sad for characters? After watching the finale of Season 2 of The Tudors I was all bummed out for a week as if it was MY head that was cut off. UGH!

I am the same way about The Office that you are about Dr. Who. And I'm 43. So don't feel bad.

Honestly, I feel like these kind of escapist obsessions keep us young, and I am mightily distrustful of anyone who spends 100% of their time in the real world. Feh. They can have it.
