Ooh, hard to choose three!

#1

The West Wing- Pros: I love the writing - particularly the first four seasons with Aaron Sorkin, it's just flawless. The characters and the fast-paced dialogue and the issues they deal with while working for the most powerful man in the world.

The West Wing- Cons: When Sorkin left it wasn't quite the same. It became less about the wit and more about the politics and that really let it down.

The West Wing - Ship: Josh/Donna. Best friends who eventually turn into lovers. And the banter! One of my favourite ships of all time.

#2

Firefly - Pros: It's hard to choose one Joss show, but ultimately Firefly is my favourite because it combines the best things about his writing. The storylines, the intricate backstory, the fact that he utilises each character and they all have their complex motivations for being on the ship, and the whole renegade family theme.

Firefly - Cons: It was cancelled?

Firefly - Ship: Mal/Inara. The fact that their very real issues prevent them from getting together but they ( ... )

From the three you mentioned, I only know Firefly. But I heard really good things about West Wing and The Office (esp the Brit version). Is that the one you are talking about?

It became less about the wit and more about the politics and that really let it down.

Sounds familiar! Lets not talk about the H-WORD though.

Mal/Inara had the whole unrequited angle to them and then there was the chemistry that made them very tempting. I am surprised I never shipped anyone in Firefly. I can't believe they cancelled firefly either!

The US one. To tell the truth, and this puts me at odds with most people I have film classes with, lol, I don't really like the British version. The humour is almost too dry for me, I guess. Oh but I strongly recommend both, particularly the West Wing!

I shipped them and Kaylee/Simon, and I liked Wash and Zoe too. Thank God for the film!

Yeah. People seem to be very passionate about differentiating between the two versions. I just don't know what the big deal is?! I will catch the office one day if only to see the difference.

SERENITY NOW!

1. What are your top three tv shows of all time?
a) Xena: Warrior Princes
b) Farscape
c) Avatar the Last Airbender
2. Something you like about each specified show?
a) How the humor and the darkness could co-exist in the same episode. Also how strong of a bond Gabrielle and Xena had lesbian undertones or otherwiseb) The characters and cultures of each species. I don't think any other scifi show of its nature can match it--Jim Henson's Workshop at its best. A-frellin-men. Best production values I've ever witnessed in the scifi genre. You see this kind of quality in movies but never in a series. Farscape really spoiled me, visually.

I hear Avatar is really good too. I should catch it one of these days. :) No Heroes?! Second season was nothing like the first but you gotta love that Milo/Hayden are a real life pair now. lozol. How is that for irony?

Heroes was actually on the list, but then I got to thinking 'what do I rewatch the most often--straight through without skipping any epsiodes?'. Admittedly Farscape might not have been on this list if it had been 6 months ago, but as I'm rewatching it I remember how excited I would get with episode, how many times I rewatched the first three seasons and the sheer amazement I feel, even now, over the visuals. That set it apart from Heroes for me. Xena, in turn, is a show I know almost by heart, have rewatched until I can speak the lines blindfolded and still watch now whenever the whimsy strikes me. And as for Avatar...this might be a temporary infactuation because it takes so long for the series to end, but at the moment I love it to death and can be found with dozens of fanfics saved on my harddrive, plus fanarts.

and seriously Milo/Hayden were destined. I'm glad they can't be together in the show now because that would ruin all chemistry.

Yeah that was my criterion to pick Alias over Farscape too. Although I am very passionate about Farscape!

Early Edition - Pros: The thing about this show was that it was total fantasy--the guy who gets tomorrow's newspaper today and gets a brief glimpse into the future. What I loved was that even though there was that supernatural element to it, the characters were 100% believable. They just seemed like everyday people you could sit down and have a drink with. And the conflict of the protagonist (whether or not to profit from the paper, whether or not to help someone who was an irredeemable bastard) was very relatable.

Early Edition - Cons: Two words: Kristy Swanson. Casting her as Gary's love interest in season three was the worst casting mistake in the history of television.

Early Edition - Ship: I was really not a shipper for this show. There were several guest actresses that had good chemistry with Gary, but none I really wanted to stick around.

#

X-Files - Pros: This show sucked me in with the paranormal stuff, and the intense chemistry between the lead characters.

X-Files - Cons: The longer conspiracy arcs ( ... )

Early edition sounds interesting. The thing is, I never heard any of my friends fangirling about it before! Which is, a shock. lol

I dunno Kel, I can't get into X files.

ugh, no comments on house.

Early Edition aired on CBS from 1996-2000. And CBS really gave it a royal screwing, canceling it out of the blue after the fourth season, even though the ratings were good. Rumor was CBS wanted to go darker, edgier with their programming. (Which is probably true, considering that's about the time they brought out CSI, etc.)

Online fandom for EE was a tiny thing compared to shows like X-Files and House. Despite how small it is, it's still got a heartbeat. Someone posted a fic just last week. lol I think the show (season one) is finally going to be released on DVD in June.

I dunno Kel, I can't get into X files.

That's okay, I won't hold it against you. ;) I was an X-Files nerd back in the day. Went to a convention in NYC and got Gillian Anderson's autograph and everything. But nothing ever topped my love for EE (for which I not only went to conventions, I helped organize them). LOZOL

ugh, no comments on house.

I know. Right now, I'm more attached to the fandom than the show. :/

I agree with your House "whinge," which btw the coolest word I've learned this week! :P

Lots of WW fans on flist...

Randomly kills off characters?! Interesting...

They should send out some spookage to the house casting team maybe...
