PTG pieces

Feb 13, 2009 12:45

I've felt some vague impulses in the direction of HP, in-between working on SC chapters, so I've been playing around in my "Path to Greatness" 'verse a little, digging up old stuff and working on new ones, a little.  (For those who don't know, PTG is a Slytherin!Harry snippet I wrote awhile back, trying to keep it as credible as possible.)  Anyway ( Read more... )

Very interesting world you are creating, I'd already loved the little prequel at ff.net but this expanded universe is just so rife with possibilities, especially for all sorts of familial intrigue that can happen in the upper classes and that you write so well in the Austenverse.

I loved the plotting Malfoys, especially Narcissa, and everything that comes with it, I always imagined she had and interesting relationship with her sisters and not completely stranged.
(kind of like in this fanart:

I love especially how despite everything it is still clear that Harry and Draco are children no matter what happens and what others might be plotting around them!
I would absolutely love to read more of this

they really are more practical, I usually picture Andromeda as the eldest, specially because of the name and Tonks age, followed by Cissa and lastly Bella.

They definitely are very Black, I loved how you pointed out the name... can you imagine what Bellatrix would have named her child? thankfully there was none!

According to HBP, Bellatrix is the oldest - it does make the timeline rather difficult, but that's JKR and maths for you. (The Black Family Tapestry says so, too, but that's just a mess of dates that only vaguely point in the right direction.)

Bellatrix as a mother is almost beyond horrible. It'd be tough to go through life as Dark Lord Lestrange. :D

Damn, you can make it terrifying and interesting at the same time so that I couldn't help reading on!

(I'm afraid for my anti-AP decision. My trio love is stronger than my AP hate, and here you see me reading a fic that undoubtedly will break (has broken) of the trio. Your power is too great! ;))

This doesn't look good to the muggle/wizard relationships or the continuation (beginning) of the war... And of course, I would dearly want to see how Harry would take Draco's anti muggle sentiment. (I think that other fic--Switch, was too soft on that account. Harry had a very keen idea of what was wrong and what was right from the beginning. If I remember correctly.)

Draco's PS is hilarious. Dumbledore's conversation with Snape just as I imagine it would be.

And I absolutely love McGonagall's rescue. I would dearly like know how the story went along from there, actually.

That's so flattering. :D I aim to terrify - and interest, of course.

My AP... oh, the Tilney thing. Heh, if I can get you onboard my AP ships, I can do anything! Bua ha ha!

Yes, I'm afraid PTG isn't a Triofic - I just don't see it happening across Houses without a pre-existing history. There's a Quartet, though! With Neville! Does that help?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by muggle/wizard relationships and continuation/beginning of the war . . . Unless you're thinking that Harry might get indoctrinated by his fellow Slytherins or something?

Harry is . . . the thing is, Harry's not an ideologue. So, one hand, I don't see him flying into a rage over the anti-Muggle sentiment which undoubtedly runs rampant through his peer group. But on the other hand, I don't see him going along w/ it, because - as you say - his ideas about right and wrong and good and bad are pretty much set, and they're all personal. Possibly because ten years of the Dursleys' blanket prejudices could sour anyone on generalities ( ... )

About the war. I thought that if their plan to use Harry's living situation with he Dursleys in anti-muggle propaganda worked, then the beginning of the war would be deeply complicated.

About Harry. I don't know if go around declaring is what i mean. Mostly, that I think he would dislike anyone spouting those kind of ideologies.

A Quartet with Neville does help, of course. Though the lack of trio can't help but make me sad, I do want to see the continuation of this story! You are hardly going to have character bashing, which is what I'm afraid with not-trio fics, in general. And, at the risk of sounding brown noser or something, you writing does compensates a lot of things! ;)

Oh, yes, this universe will definitely be, erm, politically complicated because of all this. Though I think their (the Malfoys') principal objective is to discredit Dumbledore to at least some degree.

I think that Harry will accept a lot from somebody he calls a friend, though w/ this level of prejudice (compared to, say, Hagrid's) his threshold will obviously be much lower. I think he and Draco will clash, esp since I doubt Draco has any idea how to treat a friend rather than a minion. (And I really don't see Harry taking that *at all*)

I'm glad you're feeling the Neville-love, lol. I hope I manage to avoid character-bashing - some canon characters aren't important the way they are in canon, but it's . . . I'm trying to be fair! (It's easier with Austen, honestly.)

Ahh - thank you! *hopes to compensate muchly*
