Especially the music, I must say. Howard Shore is made of awesome. :3 ( ... )

Frodo's treatment is definitely pretty similar - though I think Frodo did a little better. But yeah, awesome moments going to other characters (Arwen's rescue is another one, oddly; his defiance at the ford is replaced by a near delirious Frodo and it's Arwen who defies them), and random wtfery abounds.

I definitely thought a lot would have to go and was pretty okay with it? Like, I thought it was really well done with FOTR, though I'd have loved the Barrow-wights. The other two, as adaptations, were much more flawed IMO.

Shore is definitely awesome though!

Re: the dialogue - heh, Palpatine's is probably the only character's who I didn't mind, just because Ian McDiarmid delivered them with such glorious campy glee. Flawless casting there ( ... )

Yeah, unfortunately. (Still an awesome scene, though. :)

That he did. :)

Oh good grief, yes. *buries face in hands* If you pardon the rant here, it doesn't even make sense when you take the PT into account and Vader's character there. I guess TBF, Luke was going on about that in regards to Obi-Wan and all, but I say Vader had perfectly valid reasons to hate Obi-Wan -- especially post-Mustafar. *sighs* I don't doubt Luke meant it well, and he didn't know the whole story. Which I think makes more sense. (Sorry if I don't make sense; I'm a tad tired)

And good grief, the martial arts. Seriously.

And that sounds interesting! :D I should check it out sometime. :)

Oh, I think Luke's line makes sense - hatred fuels the Dark Side. In ESB Vader explicitly says that only Luke's hatred will give him the (Dark Side-y) power he needs, and Palpatine says more or less the same thing in ROTJ. Vader runs on hatred, and not just of Obi-Wan or in relation to one event (I think it's quite likely that most of it is directed at himself). Luke saying "let go of your hate" is just another way of saying "let go of the Dark Side." But it's just so ... clunky.

(Though, now that I think of it - Luke's statements are coming from what he psychically senses from Vader. If Vader's hatred is mostly directed at himself, then Luke telling him to let go of it is ... sort of sweet. It bothers me less anyway, even if it's still terribly phrased.)

Oooh, oooh, me, pick me! Hehehe. :)

But also - zomg I totally agree with you about Titanic. I never saw the big deal. I would say that this is because we know the ending, but that was true of the SW Prequels, too, and I really like those, so that's probably not it? I think I just didn't get into the characters that much.

Admittedly, I do that's an issue for many people with the prequels too, but beyond that Titanic is just... really heavy on the spectacle and light on the characters and relationships for me. I didn't end with a very clear idea of any of them beyond the basic outlines.

Let's see, questions. I'll clarify right upfront that I mean "favourite" to refer to subjective enjoyment/liking, and not necessarily assessments of quality (these are separate for me, though not for everyone!).

(1) Who's your favourite SW-movie character other than Anakin?
(2) Is there something in the EU that everyone seems to love, but you don't?
(3) Vice-versa?
(4) Do you have a favourite Tolkien work? If so, why is it your favourite?
(5) What aspect of LOTR do you think was best represented in the movies?
(6) You've read a lot of academic takes on fandom. What are the most annoying assumptions/mistakes/generalizations they make?
(7) Do you have a favourite Shakespeare play?

I didn't realize vidding was like, its own fandom. I guess the super intense people have their own club, but I've always just sort of had fun with it and not cared that much... it's a good brain relaxer.

Haha Titanic. Haven't seen it either, am very unimpressed with the prospect of 3-d rerelease.

I didn't realize either until I got lost in Fanlore one day and stumbled across a bunch of stuff about it. I think there are probably quite a few people who just do the vidding casually? Though a lot of those seem to be a bit lower quality, but yours are some (...three?) of my favourites, so idk.

Honestly, the only 3-D release that I'm remotely anticipating is ANH in 2015 (I think?).

If you want them, questions! Shipping questions! (Mostly.)

(1) Do you have a favourite SW movie?
(2) We both love OT3s. What's the appeal for you?
(3) Han/Leia/Luke, as we both know, is a flawless OT3. But if you had to choose a pairing among them, which would it be?
(4) If you could ship any character(s) from any other spacefaring franchise with Lando Calrissian, who would it (they) be?
(5) In honour of your icon, who's your favourite TOS character?
(6) Do you have a favourite sibcest ship?
(7) If you could pair one of the Doctors with a companion that iteration never encountered onscreen, who would it be?

Those are awesome questions, thanks!

And gee, I'm glad you like my vids *blushes*

Thank you! (There was almost another OT3 one, but I figured that's enough to be going with.)

I recced two of your vids, but somehow missed on the SOS one. Which is my favourite, even though I only recognized about half the fandoms. It's all...shiny. And I assumed you'd go straight for Luke and Leia kissing in their part, so I loved that you included the subtler stuff, too.
