So I'm twenty-six today, and it feels rather odd, but I had an awesome birthday. My mother bought me a pot of daffodils, and I spent hours at Powell's Books (the local bookstore with over one million books at this location, hell yeah) and had ultra-bittersweet hot chocolate (yum!) and then went to the Mongolian grill. OMG OMG OMG. THEN MERRY HEARD OF ALL SOUNDS IN THAT HOUR THE STRANGEST. IT SEEMED THAT DERNHELM LAUGHED, AND THE CLEAR VOICE WAS LIKE THE RING OF STEEL.

I love the John Howe one personally - it's my desktop background. Not so much Eowyn's face, but the way the whole picture focusses on her, this small light in the corner against the poised horror of the Ringwraith. Of these, though, the Spearing one is my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE. It is GORGEOUS.

Although why the heck they all have Eowyn standing between the Witch-King and Theoden when she says quite clearly and explicitly that "you [the Witch-King] stand between me and my Lord and kin" will forever be beyond me.

Some things never become less epic, and that moment is one of them.

The Howe is a bit bright for me, but it is definitely nice. I think I like Spearing best, though (but Mainerding is also cool).

Honestly, I never thought of that! I guess Théoden is on Merry's side, but you never see him there.
