I'm experiencing severe migraines during the last days of my period since September, has any of you had to deal with that? I read it could be due to hormonal changes if a woman's taking contraceptives, but I've been taking them for about 8 months now. I've never had such problems before. I swear it feels like something's drilling right into my eye ( Read more... )

I've been having period migraines since I started 20+ years ago, every month except for last month. Maybe it is hormonal and mind are finally changing, but I cope every month. I'm not on birth control and when I was many years ago it didn't make any difference to the migraines or the cramping. Sometimes I can cope with the pain by lying down with a heating pad or ice pack, and sometimes I'll take an ibuprofen and lorezapam ... usually it's a waiting game. :(

These are the days I LOVE being a woman! Feel better soon and I hope those hormones change quickly!

I have something similar. I often get migraines about a week before I get my period and sometimes during. I don't really get much of a headache but I see an "aura" for a while that starts with a single point and then spreads till it's like a circle... Idk if I'm explaining this right, but it's on Wikipedia, so maybe their explanation is better if you wanna look it up. But anyway... Mine doesn't have anything to do with contraceptives, considering I haven't been on the pill for years. I've tried various painkillers against mine whenever I did get a headache with it, but so far, nothing's worked :(
