Much like the beagle in the movie is female and, therefore, not the same individual, I'm guessing that this is a different Archer -- likely Jonathan's son?

Well, I don't think anyone expected it to be the same dog. But it's probably Archer's son, yes.

And it's not like they said the dog was alive when it was transported. Maybe it was stuffed! Like Trigger!

They did too say it was alive, they said it was the first live test subject. Explain the Trigger thing to me.

If you don't need to worry about it, why are there bases to cover?

That would be like us worrying about the Lucifer oav, say just because it exists, even though it's nowhere near canon nor our Core 'verse.

Well, it bugs me that a lot of peopleficcers don't seem to have quite grasped that the new movie isn't just an alternate reality, it's one that's supposed to have the exact same history as the regular universe up to a point. You can't just change things willy-nilly without thinking about them.
