in which i go on about my weight loss

Nov 14, 2007 13:34

I'm down to 160. One-hundred sixty pounds. Sometimes it says 162, sometimes it says 158, so I'm going with a nice round 160.

At the beginning of this year, I weighed 187 pounds.

I've lost twenty-seven pounds this year.

Four inches off my hips. Seven inches off my waist. Three inches around my arms.

This turned into sort of an inspirational essay. )

That's the sane and healthy way to do it... I'm not where I want to be myself (what woman is?) but being relaxed and being happy and caring more about treating yourself well (like eating better and more consciously) instead of 'getting thin' helped me move from hovering between 155-165 to 138-142 over the last year or so.

And yeah, I've actually been looking forward to the cold because exercising consistently is sooooo much easier for me when I can use it to warm up. I suck at exercising, which is part of why I walk so much and take the stairs... otherwise I'd get none :P

Gawds, do I hate being cold. That's pretty much the only good thing about the cold, for me. An immediate physiological reason to get up and move around. =p

Ah, good old stairs. Having stairs in the house and having to go up and down them two or three times to bring a meal up to the room (thanks to my fracture) probably helped me not gain any more weight while I sat around like a lump unable to exercise. Yay, stairs.

Louise, if you email me your wrist size measurement, and your height, I can find out exactly the weight range you're supposed to be on, using the charts my nutritionist has. Let me know.

And well done!

Hmmm - six inches exactly. I come from a family of tiny wrists. =)

And I'm 5'4", I think. Possibly 5'3".

I'm 5'3". I am overweight by at least 35 lbs. And I can see my ab muscles under my extra fat.

When I was dancing two hours a day, five days a week for a summer, I didn't have any fat on my thighs at all (I previously didn't even know that was possible for women) and was still 145. I would not believe those BMIs.

Can't see it? Neither could I when I shed 10 lbs. At least not until I saw the pictures of me when I weighed more. So look at the older pictures and compare your face just to start with. You'll start to see it.

I too have dropped 25 pounds a couple years ago, and while I didn't feel different, others reacted to me so very differently.

Meanwhile, I'm putting you on the mental list for the next girly clothing swap at my house, probably in January. Trading clothes with friends was the only thing that kept me dressed for a while as skirts started to slide lower down the hips and shirts became droopy and baggy.

That sounds fun!

My most favoritest pinstriped Dickies shorts fall off now. =/ Unless I keep them up with a ribbon through the belt loops!

On occasion I keep those chocolate/PB lollipops from See's on hand should I need to satiate any craving. Its at least the lesser of two evils when compared to Ben & Jerry's (have you tried the half baked ones?). Just a thought.

Half Baked is nummy. I like Vanilla Caramel Fudge, myself; it combines three things I love: vanilla, caramel and fudge.

But you're right - lollipops are awesome for a sweet craving with minimum calories. I also sometimes get the orange bon bons from See's, because they are so sweet I can only eat about two and I'm done with sugar for the next three days.
