Title: More Than a Just River in Egypt Author: Broedy Rating: T Characters: Taylor, Matt Summary: I have three little words for Taylor after episode 207: deny, deny, deny.
Nice take on why Taylor is so relationship shy. Between her family history, her work and Eli, the girl's got every reason to be hesitant to invest too heavily. Particularly in the Dowd, who's track record is darn shaky.
But I have to defend Jordan here. It takes two to divorce, just like it does to tango. Jordan talks about 30 years with WPK, and he didn't start that firm fresh out of law school. He was almost certainly already a lawyer when he and Taylor's Mom hooked up. She should have known what she was getting and if she decided 10 years in that she didn't like it, that's not really Jordan's fault.
Not that this would make a lot of difference to a nine year old and it sounds like the break up was messy, so it would impact on Taylor and not just in her choice of career.
I'm interested to see what the next episode will reveal - "Taylor learns some unpleasant truths about Jordan while representing him in his divorce case". (I admit I was probably a little influenced by this episode summary when writing this). More depth for Jordan's character - the good as well as the not so good - gets two thumbs up from me.
I'm all for the show exploring Taylor and Jordan's relationship more, particularly in contrast to the memories/visions Eli has of his dad.
Oh, definitely. More Jordan Taylor development (or Jordan anyone development) is for the good in my book.
And I wasn’t trying to suggest Jordan was blameless in his marital problems. Just that in any divorce there is usually more than enough blame to go around.
I have to wonder what sort of ‘unpleasant truths’ a thirty something woman wouldn’t already know about her father though. He doesn’t seem to have time to be playing around on the side.
I'm hoping for something JUICY. Jordan needs to be a bit more bad ass (or at least a bit more bad ass in his younger years), IMO.
But then, I'm not the biggest Jordan fan you're going to come across so I humbly admit that I'm happy to see some darker sides of the character. In a strange way if there were less redeemable qualities about him I'd probably like him more. ;-) (But mess with Matt and I'll be baying for blood!)
