First Attempt at Cooking Quinoa

So, I bought some quinoa at the Bulk Barn last week and tried it for the first time tonight. I used this recipe (although I used red quinoa instead of white and I forgot to put in the olive oil. Oh, and I cooked the quinoa in chicken broth instead of water). It turned out pretty good. I'll probably make it again.

A good idea with quinoa (which we use a lot) is to put it in a fine strainer and rinse it for a few min. before putting on the stove. It removes the slight bitter flavour and if cooks up nicer.
We often use it in place of rice.

My daughter does not like rice, barley, or cous cous but for some reason she loves quinoa. Thanks for the tip on rinsing! We've used white and red and it makes a nice substitute for rice.

I have been meaning to try it as a breakfast cereal with brown sugar and butter.
