Always grumbles about Aled Jones, and how he wasn't all that.

That made me smile - I remember someone here who won a number of singing competitions and was the same age as her, saying much the same thing about Charlotte Church.

Also don't forget the professional's eternal disregard for the amateur...

This was his level, a far cry from popular tunes. ;)

You're welcome. <3 Should you ever want more, just put 'Westminster Cathedral Choir' into youtube.

His cover of Walking in the Air is striking! Haunting and beautiful. It's hard to sing such a famous song (in this country anyway) but he makes it his own.

I might have had it playing on a loop, it's wonderful. I had no idea it could sound like that!

Yes, so wintry and eerie. I think it helps that the lyrics don't actually mention Christmas.

Mmmm, yes. Although I just sort of wallow, I can't say I actually listen to the lyrics. ;)

I love A Christmas Carol - the language is so rich isn’t it? I don’t like how so many of the adaptations modernise the language - the Alastair Sim version is my favourite.

The language is amazing. Rich, but not stodgy or difficult. <3

Modernising it definitely spoils it.

There was an amazing version of Christmas Carol on BBC4 last year, effectively just a Dramatic Reading of it, by Simon Callow, him alone, on camera for 2 hours reading and Doing The Voices and a Special Voice for the narrator. It might be up on iPlayer (sadly, in Ireland, I can't actually check or watch iPlayer). I love it so much. The Muppets defo do the truest version to the original text of all the many, many adaptations I've seen.

That sounds VERY DICKENS! I'll have to see if it's available.

And the Muppets is very true (even if it completely cuts out Scrooge's actual family), but the tone is just so perfect that I almost don't notice. <3
