The Summer After. Part 5

Dec 05, 2004 13:32

Here it is! Sorry it took so long, but since last time I've acquired a beta (the lovely kathyh) so hopefully there should be no stupid mistakes. Part 6 is nearly complete also, so you'll soon find out how it ends! But there are prequels and sequels in the works, so you'll get more of this verse, one way or another ( Read more... )

so that you will understand why you will do what we tell you!”
EEEEEP! Angel is channeling his inner Angelus! *covers eyes*

Damn them! When did they get so clever?
Oh dear, is this Giles underestimating them for too long?

“Shared enemies. Shared grief.”
*loud sniff*

Gah! You can't end it there!!!!!

So wonderfully paced and Angel is so menacing, Spike so weary. I love the contrast between Fred and Illyria; Fred needs about 10 words for Illyria's one. Congrats! :)

EEEEEP! Angel is channeling his inner Angelus! *covers eyes*
Oh, that was nicely put - I hadn't actually thought about it that way, but you're spot-on!

Oh dear, is this Giles underestimating them for too long?
Oh yeah!

Gah! You can't end it there!!!!!
Heh! I'm evil!

So glad you liked it! And thank you for your detailed comments!

I love the anger and the suspense, and Giles’ changing ideas about both vampires. Yet I hope he won’t be trapped into being found guilty in Fred’s death. After all, Fred was already dead when he was called. He did refuse even listen, of course, but I don’t think he or Willow would or should resurrect Fred in any case.

I am fascinated by all the developments. ;)

As I said to kathyh the thing with Fred is v. similar to one of my 5 scenes meme choices - the one with Wes and Lilah: "It means something that you tried!"
Because it means something that Giles didn't try. There's also a bit of 'If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.'

It was just something they wanted to get across to him - he has no right to think himself better than them!

Ahem. I hope that made sense.

It made sense, definitely. And You right - I don't remember Giles even listening what the problem is (on the other hand I don't remember Angel was not exactly nice, and given Giles relationship with him, the conversation as it started was meant to go wrong).

I guess, I believe it is very unfair to blame Giles for what happened with Fred, but he is guilty for not even trying to listen the cry for help.

this is so good. i can just see all of it playing out in my head as if on screen.
*poor giles, needing another drink*
spike is so good here. i can hear the sad tired tightness in his voice.and i can hear angel's barely controlled rage lying under each of his lines. giles is channeling his most befuddled self. and your contrast from fred to illyria is wonderful.
thanks so much

Oh, thank *you* for your lovely comments! And I'm so glad that it comes across the way it's meant to - I know how it plays out in my head, but I worry that I can't capture it properly.

How wonderful! Illyria's Fred speech really is the most brilliant twist of the knife. "...But thanks to my brave hero here, I was brought back home again!" And with a big smile she looked at Angel, whose face was now a stony mask. I love the clever analogies, too - the mention of Glory and Ben, and of the Buffybot. And I can't wait to find out what surprise Angel has in store.

Oh, yeah! Pain and angst for all! And the analogies were not particularly intentional - they just wrote themselves (it's nice when that happens!).

And the surprise... well, I better get the last chapter sorted out now, haven't I?
