I so love fics (and canon) that point out the connection between Jack and Sawyer, and this fic is really brilliant.

Also, this part:
That’s how he knew he and Jack were the same. They invited the pain in and wouldn’t let it leave. Jack wore his on the outside, on permanent display for everyone to see. Oh, I loved this. I love using Jack's tattoos as a point of comparison, how they make him like and yet not at all like, Sawyer. And I love the explanation of why Sawyer never got a tattoo, it's so perfect. And, of course the regret here, and the distance Sawyer feels from Jack. Ahh, the angst! Sad, but so insightful.

It just goes to show you how Jack-centric I am when I read "stars" and "hurt" i thought immediately of Jacks' tattoos. I'm really glad you liked how it all turned out and that you liked the explanations for Sawyer lack of tattoos. :) *hugs*
