Pie Transportation!

Any advice on taking a pie (tart, really!) for a trip on the subway would be greatly appreciated.

(If only there were a pieman I could consult!)

food, pie

What time of day do you need to make this trip? If not rush hour, I would think sitting with the pie in its bakery box on your lap would be adequatly safe?

... if you're making the pie yourself, see if a local bakery or deli will give/sell you a cake box? I would think they'd be happy to.

Hmm... I may have to bite the bullet and buy some pastries to get the box. Darn! :) And thanks for the suggestion!

Sadly, it WILL be rush hour, and the closest bakery is the likely apathetic Zaro's at Penn Station. I might use a sturdier box that I already have, and go a little later than usual to let the rush beat me...

I've seen cake carrying tupperware with a strap and handle that makes carrying a baked good on the subway as easy as carrying a purse. I'm sure the Container Store would have something that would fit the bill.

Edited for early morning misspellings.

Ooh, that sounds amazing! Hmmm... I suppose if I buy one, it's an investment in my future baking habit (in the sense of hard-to-shake addiction). :)
