With 'Stand Up Friend With Me' in the very early 70s and with his 'Variety Photoplays' I knew I was reading classics. He made poetry seem so alive and vibrant, took it out of the classrooms and exploded it in the living streets. Edward Field will always my introduction to 'real' poetry and helped me become a writer. He used to be on Queer Writers, where I chatted with him, until it was taken off for some reason. Glad to see it listed again by Felice Picano.

I forgot to mention in my next book '100 Whores' (being edited now) I mention the writers who inspired me to pursue the craft, no matter the hard times that would come my way. And Edward Field is one, especially his 'Variety Photoplays' of which in NYC there used to be an old movie house with that name, regrettably they tore it down. '100 Whores' is a book of stories, gay, bi, straight, and follows the hero as he grows up and faces life, in more ways than just one.

Thanks, Mick
