In memory of Denise Robins

Denise Robins (1 February 1897 - 1 May 1985) was a prolific British romantic novelist and President of the Romantic Novelists' Association. She wrote under a variety of pen-names, producing short stories, plays, and some two hundred novels. Her books sold over one hundred million copies. Her maiden name was Denise Naomi Klein.

That cover art caught my attention! At a rare book dealer site, I found this description:
"The story of a beautiful slave from Africa smuggled into Georgian England, and finally becoming a noble woman in France, where she takes her revenge on those who mistreated her."

Hmm. *intrigued to know what this is all about..."the recognized mistress of the punishing kiss device"...*

In a modern perspective, the chains, the titles... I believe this book is now more interesting for its covers than the story! Denise Robins was a founder of the romance genre, and even if it seems strange, at the beginning of that genre there was more freedom than in later years. Elisa
