I just received this book from the library and will probably read it this week. I read Hot Target and Forces of Nature and was also disappointed by the lack of detail in the love scenes--especially the first real love scene--between Robin and Jules.
But I think this "closing the bedroom door" may be Ms. Brockmann's (or maybe even her publisher's) way of making gay sex "easier" for traditional romance readers to accept.
I'm anxious to see if the success of this book will lead some of those readers to seek out more similar stories that are very common in e-publishing these days. And I'd really love to see e-publishing success with m/m make the big NY houses sit up and take notice the way they did with erotic romance in general.
And being totally selfish I think our Detective Jason Chen is ever so much sexier and hot than Jules Cassidy ^_^
Yes, I think you are right. So to read of Robin and Jules I have to bought Hot Target and Forces of Nature? or also some other books? and It's in Forces of Nature their first time?
I suppose it helps if you've read or skimmed through the other books.
The meet in Hot Target then admit their feelings in Force of Nature. To be honest in Hot Target I just skipped through most of the main story until I came to the Jules & Robin parts until the ending chapters when things became a bit more exciting with the main characters.
Force of Nature was a bit more exciting to me so I paid closer attention to the main story as well.
Completely agree with the poster above. I have no doubt it is a publisher requirement. You can have the gay characters, but NO SEX! In some ways, romance has come a long way--go Suzanne!--but there is still a long, long road ahead. Very.
So I will blame the publisher to have taken a decision for me. If I buy a sexy romance author who writes an M/M novel, I'm expecting to read a bit of sex. Elisa
I think the omission of sex scenes is because many people feel "threatened" by homosexuals because especially these past few years in the USA the issue of gay marriage is all over the news. So I would like to support the comments above because I also agree the editors may not want Brockmann to be depicting homosexuality so aggressively.
And you are right, and I have thanked Suzanne Brockmann for her courage. I think she will be a pioneer and it's very good that a pluri-award and famous author has made that, she will open the doors to a lot of other author.
I suppose that is why this book has "Sale Amazon.com Sales Rank: #1,066 in Books". It's difficult to have hot m/m scene in majour market. And also the author and her editors may challenged to hit the market of "same sex marriage". I'm wondering if I can find this book at the biggest bookstore in Athens. I'll go to check it tomorrow. Anyway, this book is interesting in spite of my avoidance of "FBI things". My problem is I have now very generous but very jealous and possessive man, so that he is jealous even to my books and PC.

So he doesn't want you to spend time reading cause he wants you all for him?
In the book there is only a bit of "FBI things" so no worry, and I think yes, if your bookstore have an Original Language section, I think you can find it.
I had to tell you that in this country it's difficult to find "gay themed novels" in the bookstores even they are rather in majour market. Anyway, I can buy from Amazon.
