The next morning

[The first thing Elijah is aware of is the immense pounding in his head. It feels like someone is banging a hammer against his skull. He groans and tries to open his eyes, but the light feels like daggers and he shuts them again. He reaches out with his hands, trying to get a feel for his surroundings. He winces and pulls back

*Sunny is... sunny. For once. After her date with Sunstreaker, she made her way to Eli's to talk to him about it- because she needs someone to talk to, and Eli's the only one she knows that won't slam the door in her face.

Not that it would matter if he did, because Sunny has keys to everyone's house.

But she'll be polite this time! Holding her heels in one hand (sometimes even Sunny can't stay in heels for so long), Sunny marches up to Eli's door. After making sure her dress was still on right and not slipping or showing too much, she knocks insistently at the door*

[What great timing Sunny had. Eli had just stepped out of the shower when she knocked. He hurriedly puts on jeans and heads downstairs. His hair is still wet and untamed when he opens the door.]

Oh, hey Sunny. Come on in.

[Notices what Sunny is wearing.]

Whoa. Hot date last night?

And you look like sex Elijah! *she greets him cheerfully, laughing a bit as she enters, turning once so he can see it all*

You like? My date sure did~

*and somehow, she can tell something's wrong. It might be because of some female intuition.

Or it might be because the air still smells faintly of burnt toast. She wrinkles her nose*

Uh. Were you trying to cook or something? It smells really bad.... ugh...

[Eli smiles. Sunny is like a sister to him, and one of the very few people he could tolerate at a time like this.]

Sorry about the way I look. I actually had just stepped out of the shower when I heard you knocking.

[He watches as she spins around.]

Now I know why you call "The Dress". It's lovely, and you look gorgeous in it, Sunny.

So, who was the unlucky guy? Did he fall for your ...charms? [cheeky grin]

Yes. I tried to make toast. And failed. [frown]

[Eli checks his phone when he gets downstairs again and notices he has one new voicemail. He listens to the message with a frown. He knows that tone of voice. After a few moments to gather his courage, he picks up the phone and returns the call.]
