Joanna Gleason community

Hello, Eli Stone fans!

I'm new to here and I've just made a Joanna Gleason community: joannagleason
I don't have any actual members yet, but I'm hoping people interested in Eli Stone are also fans of Joanna.  If you are, please join!  (have a look in the community info part first, though.)

Thank you, and please join (and post!)!

Has anyone actually seen the unaired pilot where Joanna Gleason played Eli and Nate's mother? Was the storyline very different from the real pilot?

Unaired...you mean the extended pilot on the S1 DVDs? The woman playing their mum in that one is the same as the rest of the season. (But I think I'm getting the actresses mixed up...who did Gleason play, again? 'Cause I just looked her up on IMDB 'n she's not even listed in the cast credits. >< )

(It really wasn't that different at all, just some bonus scenes - like the workout scene, and I think there's one with Matt and Eli trying not to kill each other while walking down the hall. Prob'ly a few others - been a while since I watched it.)

Nah, there was a different pilot shot to the one that aired. Joanna Gleason played "Lenore Stone" before she was replaced by Pamela Reed (even the character was renamed Linda). You can check out the photo gallery.

From The Tube File, talking about the differences between the pilots:

They recast Eli's mother, from Joanna Gleason to someone I didn't recognize, basically making her warmer-seeming but less sophisticated. I wonder if that was partly an availability thing- if they decided the character will come back, Joanna Gleason may be harder to get/pay than someone else. And, more critically, in the original, his fiancée basically dumps him and we're left to believe he's going to start seeing the woman he represents in the episode, who he had once slept with, in college. But in the version that aired, they trimmed the lines with the woman he represents so it's not as clear they'll ever see each other again, and they had the fiancée come back, tell Eli she loves him, and they go off and have lunch.
