I have used their video purchasing service (TV season passes), not rental, but I assume it's the same architecture. I always do streaming and I've been very happy with it--even if I try to skip around the timeline, the time it takes to re-buffer is smaller than I'm used to on something like YouTube.
For reference, though, I have a pretty fast internet connection (getting downloads at ~1.4 Mbps actual speed isn't uncommon). If your connection is slower, you might not get the same video quality, so that's a consideration.
