I went to Wendy's today for some chili and fries. The total came to $6.66. The guy at the cash register wouldn't even say the number out loud, and he gave me a senior discount so that I didn't get charged that amount.

The combo I always order at Raising Canes comes to a total of $6.66. 3 chicken strip combo w/ an extra honey mustard sauce. They never bat an eyelash...and I usually have exact change.

Usually people just laugh nervously and make a joke about it.

Next time that happens, just explain that 666 is the gematric value of "Qaesar Neron", and that the earliest copies of the Book of the Revelation of St John list the number as 626, which is the value of "Qaesar Nero". And that those are the two ways you say "Emperor Nero" in Hebrew. That there's no real mystery there, and that "the Beast" has been dead since 68 CE.

Does that mean I have to forego the senior discount?

Believe me, it's worth it to experience the fun of watching people entirely ignore actual facts in order to hang on to their preconceived notions.

Heh. That also happened to me right here in Brooklyn at a Starbucks about 5 years ago. The cashier wouldn't take the extra penny to make it $6.66, so I paid just $6.65, IIRC.
