Misfits \o/ Truly fabulous TV, one of very very few series that is so good that I feel no need to 'adjust' it in my head *g* Not to be too specific for the sake of the unspoiled but I adored the revelations and subsequent developments secondary to the discovery of the identity of the masked hero *g* that is exactly the kind of character development and twisty, real, interesting relationship thinking that is missing from, oh, most serial drama ever.
I agree with your mapping in general, Kelly is certainly Howard, but I push for Simon as Gary the good Slytherin *g*
I went to see 'The Green Hornet' today. It wasn't exactly bad but very uncomfortable in places (the main character is a complete knob in a way that I happily thought he'd realise and change at the end, until the end happened and he... completely hadn't) and slashy AS ANYTHING and now I want to write a NOVEL detailing the slash and how the main guy learns not to be a knob through the power of love and achieving any kind of maturity, because I am emotionally invested...
As usual, we are in agreement about most things :-)
You could easily persuade me that Simon is Gary, except he lacks that touch of showmanship, although he's pretty shrewd. Jason is the hard one to fit in, really - no one else in Misfits is really a deep thinker?
I will happily beta your noval, or at least as manay chapters as you feel are required - I might need to watch the film first?
That's the problem, I actually wouldn't necessarily say the film was worth the price of entry (particularly 3D), but it's one of those cases of 'it's so full of holes and irritating bits whilst having good potential that I need to write it' (the opposite of 'Misfits' in fact)
I'm trying to write a Pros thing at the moment, but I seem to keep re-writing the first scene. But it's keeping me quite happy *g*
Something I should actually pimp to you: 'Generation Kill' (MIB might like this? It's about the Iraq invasion and genuinely funny/interesting plus slashy liek whoa)
I just saw the Green Hornet. I think it's the problem with Seth Rogen in movies - everyone in Hollywood seems to think that he's so inherently charming and sympathetic that the occasional moment of common decency mixed in with the asshole behavior is enough to get the audience on his side. And he's not.
He is charming and sympathetic enough that if they wrote him decent redemptive moments, instead of just "Is occasionally sorry", he could carry those off.
And yes, it was epically slashy. He's spending half of the time hitting on a woman he admits he's only interested in because she doesn't like him that way, while constantly trying for a grand touchy-feely emotional journey with Kato. If you did fic about him progressing from "Treat Kato as an equal because he's fully capable of punching my head off when I pull petty shit" to "Treat Kato as an equal because I love him and I want to be good to him", I'd read it.
I would like to agree that Gary is TOTALLY a Slytherin, and Mark is definitely in Gryffindor with Robbie, who doesn't like Mark making friends with Slytherins.
Also, I think it'd be fun to make up suitably ridiculous and useless superpowers for Team Take That. Mark has the power to produce glitter.
And I rather enjoyed Misfits myself. They're all complete idiots :D
Maybe he can stun people with his hair, so they can't move for like five minutes. And he has a massive argument with Robbie over whether that's an actual superpower, or just the sign of a really bad hairstyle (or the sign of a hairstyle that's so good it leaves people stunned).

I don't know. But on one of our earliest trips to London, Mrs. B. and I saw No Sex Please, We're British. Is that a clue?
