So, since everyone else is talking about it...

Wonder Woman's new look. Never mind the backstory reboot, never mind the character's future - I'm addressing the new duds, and the new duds only. This is because I don't read DC comics (not out of any loyalty to Marvel, but because comics are a really annoying hobby and I usually fail to keep up with the one or three that are on my pull list), so I ( Read more... )

I'm pretty meh about the costume changes (while still being kinda ticked about the ret-con although, to be honest, not enough to actually blog about it.)

The thing of it is that while I do love the concept of wonder woman and the sheer possibilities her background and storyline provide I've always wondered why the hell and Amazonian princess with a few thousand years of greco-roman history (and that's just on her own home island) is wearing outfits like that (and I get it, I really do, from a marketable standpoint but not so much from the character's history and background)

So I've always been kinda meh about it and pretty much always will be.

Although I will say that Carter rocked it back in the day.

I totally get being P.O.ed about the retcon. That makes perfect sense to me. Even if they end up doing a stellar job with her new story, it's totally legit for fans of the original to be upset about the change.

Yeah, I've wondered that too. Ignoring when the character was created and, like you said, marketability, it is a pretty unthinkable costume combo. :P

Well, superhero names and costumes were icons of the genre in their early days, and they've held fast for so long. By today's standards, they're corny and overdone, but that's after seventy years of tradition, so I understand why no superhero comic publisher is about to give them up completely. Still wouldn't miss them myself, though, being a child of the 90s.

I like her new costume too, judging purely from sight. It'll depend on how other artists will tackle it too, of course. But this casual-chique; why not? Seems convenient too, knee-patches and all.

Not that I ever read Wonder Woman.

Also, who says supers can't vary costume every once in a while? On a hot day she can ditch the jacket or get back the shorts.

Seconding your bonus and adding "least favourite haircut ever".

Totes, I fully expect Wondy to revive the star-studded short-shorts before too long. <3

I'm not fond of the bald+goatee either. Although I'll admit it's stored fondly in a corner of my heart, entitled "Fuzzy, you ham." Which is all kinds of odd, because actual fuzzy ham is a cause for concern...
