For the Love of Trivialities!

First of all, as of last night, I have finished Chapter Six of Half-Blood Prince. I eventually had to put it down and pick up the considerably-more-soporific Mary Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley so that I could go to sleep. I got into Half-Blood Prince considerably quicker than I expected.

I watched The Life and Times of Juniper ( Read more... )

I love Juniper Lee! I know it's a little kid cartoon, but that's what I have a little brother for. My cute little excuse to watch it.

Is Mary Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley interesting? That period of history fascinates me, but the droll tone of a textbook seems to take the life out of the stories.

I like kids' cartoons, particularly Jimmy Neutron and Kim Possible. I'm thinking that Juniper Lee may grow on me, especially after this particular appeal to my inner English Geek.

Mary Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley is indeed interesting. It presents the evidence of the contemporary records to show who was really involved in the murder, what was actually propaganda, and so on. The book is by Alison Weir. She also wrote a great book on the life of Elizabeth I, and I still have to read her book The Princes in the Tower.

I also just finished that great double biography of Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I. I'll look up the author and post the exact title, if you like. I've seen another double biography that I want to get my hands on that talks about Elizabeth I and the famous Irish pirate Grace O'Malley. Me, obsessed with Good Queen Bess? Whatever gave you that idea? ^_~

Okay, that's not a word I know, but I want to add it to my collection. What's it mean, and can you use it in a sentence?

That is absolutely awesome. I read Gulliver's Travels ages ago, but I didn't remember the name of the Giant Country. And using that word in a superhero cartoon is mighty.
