When bored, watch movies

So pariahsdream has only been back two days, and we're already wondering how the hell we live with each other.

Bwahahahaha.

On to the movie reviews.

Considering the amount of money I've shelled out for them, I can be as snide as I like about them. So nyah.

I saw Golden Compass yesterday. I didn't remember the book well enough to notice what they changed, aside from ending the movie with all the good guys still alive, which isn't how the book ends iirc. But the action was great (bear fights GO!!) and all the little CG critters were fun to watch. There were a few "how did she figure that out?" and "wait, how does he know that?" and "well, isn't that convenient" moments that you sort of have to overlook. But overall it was enjoyable.

I'm not certain I like the dude who played her uncle. His face isn't very expressive and he seemed sort of bland, but that may have been in character, so meh. Also, I'm sick of every kid in good fantasy movies having British accents. Yes, I know all the good fantasy movies are based on books by British authors. But the kids always sound snooty, and are sometimes hard to understand. When are they going to make a good movie where I don't have to listen to overly precocious 12-year-olds talk through their noses at me?
