Okay, let's make this post short and easy for one's eyes to read, mmmyeah?

*It saddens me that whenever I'm up for a good Kagrra, fic and I click myself into kagrrafic there's never updates. I've read all the good stuff in their archive a billion times already, plus the newer stories I've bookmarked. At one point I read only Isshi/Nao or Nao/Shin but ( Read more... )

ah, that black man game! :D nostalgic. but really, these days it seems that it really isn't a "black man" anymore. i saw kids playing it once and they were shouting "who's scared of the octopus?", and i was like "......wait, what?" for a second. it seems like some um, common decision to change the name, because it's racist these days. kinda same thing like when fazer removed that little black man image from their licorice bars, or how there isn't no "neekerin pusu" anymore.
it's funny how quick things change; when we were kids stuff like this wasn't an issue yet.
but awww, those boys really do sound cute~

When I was working in the elementary school a couple of years back, it was decided already then that schools would stop using the phrase "black man". I understand that because kiddos can be pretteh cruel these days, and as there are more and more immigrants in schools nowadays, it wouldn't be diplomatic to continue using the phrase in the game.

HOWEVER. I don't understand why people have to be so overly sensitive about stuff? It's just CANDY, people, and the pictures are(/were) so stylized that really, no one should be offended. The pics were kinda retro in my opinion :( It's like, why Fazer can use Geisha as their trademark/logo? It could be considered racist too, you know, "the Japanese are so edibly good". There was a lecture on this in my media course. (missä siis professori esitteli näkökantoja "syötävän hyvään erilaisuuteen", millä kautta aikojen on myyty eksotiikan nimissä tuotteita länsimaalaisille. Ei siis oikein aukea pienelle lapselle miks japskeja saa syödä mutta tummia poikia ei D: yhtä stereotyyppisesti Fazer geishatkin

i so agree with you about fazer. the little pic had been there forever and really, like you said, it was so stylized that it shouldn't have offended anyone. but that geisha thing was pretty good point. :o i had actually never even thought about it, but that's so true! funny how people see that stuff so differently, even though it really isn't that different in the end.

With one hand fingers I can count the clever and/or exciting/intriguing things I've learned in Uni during the past year 8D The Geisha thing was one of those. So, university education is definitely overrated.
