Holy cow!! I'm so sorry for your accident, but glad you are (more or less) okay (with the exception of stitches, of course). I hope you were able to get all the glass fragments picked up.
Yikes. Bloody hell. What happened, did you drop the tank or something?
And yes, I think that proves you to be a Very Practical Person, plus you get points for going for your non-dominant arm (unless you're left-handed and I've forgotten) and managing to avoid serious injury. I've done the one-handed thing before when I had that lump of chalk in my shoulder, with much pain though without without the blood or the towel (glad to see you heeded Douglas Adams' advice and had towels handy), and it's really awkward, isn't it, you keep trying to do things the normal way and they don't quite work.
If you're anything like me you'll be flattened by the shock of the whole thing and the stress and exhaustion of going to A&E, so get storm_seller and co to look after you for a few days.
Love and hugs and silly audiobooks winging their way to you across the ether internet. I've just been rereading the Lyttle Lytton contest, if you need something silly to cheer you up. Just remember that Six o'clock comes early, and so does death.
