Apparently I can accidentally scare people even online. If the person concerned does see this, I apologize. It is unfortunately understandable in the world of cyberstalkers and the like.

It just does not make it any less painful.

I was once accused of stalking a friend of mine by someone we both knew (and who I really didn't like). Because of the conflict that ensued, my friend and I drifted apart after that. So I sort of understand where you are coming from.

But think of it this way: it doesn't really matter if people who don't know you are afraid of you. That can happen to anyone (in one way or another), since people have very strange misconceptions about other people.
If your friends would be afraid of you, that would be a real bummer. But I think that no one who knows you, is scared of you. That's what counts. : )

Well, that's rather obvious and it should not matter. But still... One always wonders what the heck went wrong.

If only we could remove all the misunderstanding from this world. Sigh.

And of course it's natural to think back and wonder what went wrong. I have to do it very often, because I have an unfortunate tendency to offend people with my strange sense of humor. Or let's call it Carelian sense of humor (also sometimes called as *ittuiluhuumori). Few people get it right. And too many times if forget that.
