Well, he ain't Gene 'Sheriff of Manchester' Hunt if he doesn't do some detecting (and not just of garibaldis)! Of course, whether Ray tells the truth this time is yet to be seen...

I do love me a nice bit of backstory, and Ray's is getting more interesting every time! I enjoy the way you didn't reveal too much to Gene about Pete or the Navy, just dropped enough to get the gears turning just that bit faster, and bonus points for that twinge of jealousy on his part, wondering why Ray is talking to some bloke called Pete instead of him :D

Gene's demands at the end ring especially true, his need to trust Ray even if he instinctively feels he's a good man, rather reminds me of his relationship with Sam (platonic or otherwise) and reinforces just how important trust is to a man like Gene. Great character detail, and brilliant story, thank you!

Aw, thanks! Ray does indeed have a fairly interesting backstory - hell, they all do, to some extent, I'm sure. Hence me deciding we should all have a peek into time before Sam.

Yay, I was hoping for a good piece of Ray's backstory and you didn't disappoint. I remember your personal canon so I was not surprised by most of the revelations, but enjoyed reading about them in here. Well done!

Yeah, most of the 'personal' backstory I have is all down to this fic - I have been writing it for a long time!! So other fics have come and gone whilst I've done it.

I have another long fic in the offing, which I've been writing for about the same amount of time...just gotta finish that one though!
