Star Trek.... One of the Space Adventures television series I have not yet seen, and really had very little intention of seeing. Oh, just wait - Mudd not only comes back, but with femmebots! (To be fair, there are also... hommebots? Do we even have a word for that?) I have not yet seen the animated episode with love potions, but it does not sound good. It's sad, because original Trek can have so many fun parts, and then they throw something like this at you. (Sometimes it's just little parts of otherwise decent episodes, at least?)

Most of the time it's just a little sexism, and that I can grit my teeth through and chalk it up to the times. I won't stop mentioning it, because people need to be aware that it's there, if they're watching these things. It's especially harmful if we absorb it as natural and don't notice how it affect things, so I'll keep pointing it out, but most of the time it's not so bad that I feel a need to rant over it.

It's much better than other things I've seen from that era - to be honest, better than some things I've seen from nowadays. And some of the little things are so ridiculous that it's hard for me to take offense (Golly, Earthman Kirk, I never realized men were sexy before you showed me the light!) The episode where Kirk gets split in two and we find out that supposedly he's a good captain because he has a violent rapist side lurking under the surface to balance out his wishy-washing nice side is pretty awful, though. Better to just watch the hilarious scene from Charlie X where Uhura sings about how Spock is a devil with the ladies and he plays backup. (And people wonder why the new movie shipped them.)
