I have never watched American Idol either and I've had a TV for three years now. I just have no interest in the show. From what I hear, we're not missing much. :)

you would think by the number of AI headlines on entertainment news sites over the last number of years that it is something important. i just never had the inclination to watch it. now i have a tv, still don't.

however, i am glad i got to hear this guy's take on the song. i sometimes put it on repeat on my ipod to listen to it in a loop.

I always thought "entertainment news" was something of a misnomer. Just because millions tune in doesn't necessarily give the program any redeeming value :)

Pretty brave choice of him to pick Mad World, personally I think his voice is a little too rough for this one, but gotta give him credit for singing on national tv.

his voice is too high methinks. it borders from tenor onto falsetto. i like male singers with a lower octave. for a song of this gravity it should be sung lower.

however, i do like that he took the song and did pretty well with it.

Never watched it either. But we did watch Adam's performance last night since that bit was recorded with Fringe. I didn't like it. I much prefer Gary Jules' version, even over Tears for Fears who did the original.

the gary jules version is most definitely the best one of the lot. that is what i play on a loop periodically, especially when i am feeling melancholy.

i never liked the tears for fears arrangment.

I've never watched (more than snippets of) American Idol, either.
