Reminds me of when my black cat adopted redminx and me; we still had one rat left from our previous horde. Cat notices cage and small moving thing, moves up quickly to investigate. Pixie the Rat scampers up to say hello, immediately decides cat fur would make for great bedding and proceeds to pull hair - still attached to cat - into cage.
Cat, very confused by prey that refuses to run, retreats and never bothers rat again.

i have had cats and dwarf rabbits. same sort of relationship. though i would let the rabbit out of his hutch. he and the cats would play tag. i would see cats chasing rabbit through the townhouse. then i would see the rabbit chasing the cats.
it was hysterical to watch.
