Grateful 5

So, before I write my Grateful 5, I kind of want to blather about what to do for CostumeCon next year. I'm going to have to start asap after AN, but right now Sunil has other plans on the go (or so I believe) so do I do something I've been dreaming of for years and do it solo (if I'd ever start and ever finish, ugh, complicated costumes and me don' ( Read more... )

Yeah...There's a costume I've been wanting to do that's a real test of skill (for me anyway) for years (img in photobucket here), but I think my hubby will be doing something with his friend instead of something matching that, so I don't know if I want to somehow join them, do it alone, or if I want to take something else off my wishlist (which, ironically, I'd be doing solo anyway, haha). Some of those potentials are here, but there's a bigger list on my computer. It's just doing a presentation solo that has me super nervous.

I don't have the time or skill or $ to make more than one elaborate costume in the next year, so choices matter.... And with CC the pressure is on...gotta be neat looking, maybe with lights and shit cuz you can do that sort of thing there, or some other effect.... impressive on stage is what I also have to consider, but also that I have the bonus of not having to fly to get here, so I can have bigger/heavier pieces... It's annoyingly difficult to pick something appropriate. :/

Hehehe maybe one day we can be the amigos! I love that movie. Though now I can't remember if I am Lucky Day or Dusty Bottoms.... It's annoying that the costumes are so intricate, cuz it's not something I'd want to solo cuz it just wouldn't work, and I can't imagine others wanting to put that much time sewing all that trim into a mariachi outfit! lol

I just wanna wear it on stage and sing "My Little Buttercup".... !

Do you find the Grateful 5 helps you? I've got a lot of ~meh~ days puntuated by very good and very bad ones. lol I don't think this is good. My life (work & home) is fairly stable if boring so maybe that's why the meh. I don't know. *thinky thoughs*

In a way it does. I end the day on a positive note, since I try to do it at the end of the day. But also when I've gotten it into routine, I'll notice myself throughout the day being more aware of things, as I'm wondering, "OH, I could write this as one of my grateful 5's tonight!". It helps a bit with more awareness and being in the now and just recognizing positive things. Like that book I think you also read (Stumbling on Happiness) I think positivity is something that can be achieved with work/behaviour modification, and I'd rather be a positive person than otherwise.
