The Navigator (1924)

Note: I passed out during The General, but I have procured it and will be watching it this weekend. Speedy isn't coming on Sunday as the whole day's programming was wiped to make way for a Paul Newman marathon. While this is disappointing, we all knew that they were going to do this on some day this month. And now I have something to fill the hole.

So, on to The Navigator:

1) Keaton really comes to life when he has gigantic props. There's much to do, misunderstand, and destroy on a boat.

2) Kathryn McGuire was a much better romantic foil here that she was in Sherlock Jr. Then again, she had much more to do here. I prefer the women get in on the action (ex: Sybil Seely) and seem to exist for reasons other than to be pretty and be there.

3) I quietly died from laughter during the first night on the boat stuff.

4) The undersea stuff was wonderfully surreal.
