Taking the integral under the curve should be something I can do in Excel. Evidently, I cannot. So I fought with Matlab for four hours, and have nothing to show for it that works

Guns are actually really unsafe. I suppose it's okay if it's just your earlobes, which is why they use them in Claire's, but apparently it's much better to use needles.

that's what the many-piercings guy said as well. Needles somehow go around/between your flesh, while guns rip through.

also - he said the guns are really hard to clean b/c of the moving parts, whereas you can just throw needles into your overflowing bodily fluid hazard bin :)

Yeah, that's basically what I heard, too. Guns can damage the tissue around the piercing, whereas a needle goes through cleanly, plus there's more risk of bacteria and stuff. It's just funny because needles look scarier.
