it's so small as to be almost negligible, and the freakouts about Columbine, etc, add fuel to the fire so that people do freak out about it. I don't think it's completely negligible, but I do think it's confounded with about 18 other things and separating it out is close to, if not completely, impossible.
Hmm. That's an interesting view. Do you think maybe violent behavior in children is an outcome of certain forces in our society, and violent video games are more of a symptom of those forces than a cause? I don't know where I stand on it, but that's probably close to what I think the answer might be.
I think that violence in children comes from a lot of things... "certain forces" being really vague, but yes. I'm actually more worried about elementary school 'Mean Girls' than bullies beating people up in the playground, and I think it's really easy to peg the media for both of those. I don't think that violent video games, by themselves, can cause people to completely change their personalities
