I actually skipped ahead from the first book to read ToJ, for the Chinese-y elements that AWE and ToJ share.

I like this a lot, it's a great blending of the canons, and your Laurence and Temeraire are spot-on.

Thank you! I think I'd just caught the final scene of AWE somewhere, and as I was making my way through the books, it just appeared out of nowhere.

Someone recommended HMD to me last year but wouldn't tell me why. When I read it, I understood - it was a sort of variation on Turner, and I have not nearly enough Will Turner going on, so all was happy. (And isn't it odd that the last Pirates movie ended in something of a reverse for Turner of what happened to Laurence early on in the first book? Sea land, land sea, all that?)

You can keep the hope going - I have a good idea for what I could do next, but I need to get a few other fics out the way first, and I go away for a couple of weeks soon, so I'm not saying never, but soon(ish).:)
