Snowglobe 7

Sent my x-mas cards today. I'm afraid the overseas ones will arrive after Christmas, but the ones to Europe might get there on time *crosses fingers*.

I read the Ten-Martha novel Snowglobe 7 by Mike Tucker last night, and I must say I really enjoyed it. I liked his previous novel The Nightmare of Black Island as well, so he's turning out to be one ( Read more... )

Martha in the Mirror really didn't live up to its potential, for me. It's a shame because I often quite like Justin Richards's stuff. I have Snowglobe 7 somewhere but I've never got round to it; sounds like I need to locate it!

I think I've only read The Resurrection Casket (which was good fun) and the EDA The Burning so far. I've heard Time Zero is supposed to be quite good, so I'm looking forward to reading that (though I seem to recall that it makes sense to read that one in the correct chronological order). Are there any other of his EDAs that you'd recommend? (I think I have a few of his but I haven't got around to reading them yet).

I'm fond of Time Zero (some very good Fitz stuff in there, as I recall), and also Sometime Never ..., which is another arc-pivot best read in its place in the order (it's not as good as Time Zero but still lots of fun; I'm not quite sure what I think of his policy of giving himself the Events but he does a good enough job that I don't worry too much).

I also like The Shadow in the Glass far more than I should. It's a cracktastic Six PDA he wrote with Stephen Cole at very short notice to plug a gap in the schedule created by Gary Russell being faily.

And now you have given me an excuse to use one of my favourite icons. Yay!

Time Zero sounds cool. Sometimes Never is one of the few I only have as an e-book, so I maybe should see if I can't pick it up on ebay. I really dislike reading books on the computer - fanfic is ok, since there's no other option.

The Shadow in the Glass sounds like something I should check out as well. I'm a sucker for cracktastic stuff, and I haven't read any Six PDAs. Come to think of it, I haven't ever seen any of his episodes either - I only know some of his audios. He's got a great voice for those ...

Martha in the Mirror disappointed me and I rather like Justin Richards. He's written some YA time-travel stories (The Time Runners series) which are quite good fun. And The Resurrection Casket was the first New Who novel I read. I liked the steampunk aspect of that one...

I'm glad you enjoyed Snowglobe 7.

The Resurrection Casket was good fun. I don't think I've read anything by Justin Richards that I really diskliked, but I can't seem to get engaged with Martha in the Mirror. I might try again at a later date.

I might try Wetworld next - you said you liked that one?

I think "adore" might be more accurate. It's got characters who "Squee" when they see Ten!!
