An ongoing post as I think of other places. They aren't really in a particular order, but I did have the firse six or so in mind immediately while the others came later.
Chichen Itza was amazing. And unlike any attraction in America, you could touch and climb on all the stuff. There were no guards yelling at you and no safety rails or anything. They had a rope going up the side of the pyramid you could hold onto, but that was it. The views was just awesome.
It was sooooooooooo hot, though. I think that was the closest I've been to the equator and I could not believe how hot it was and how the sun beat down on us. Bring lots of sun screen and lots of water.
I'm been to Teotihuacan, the ruins outside of Mexico City, and it was the same thing there. You could climb right up them, no handrails or anything. It was a little scary, and exhausting. And bloody hot the day we were there too.
