This morning I was taking my garbage out and when I walked into the front yard from the side of the house I startled a cat. It turned and ran straight towards the road -- a fairly busy one. I winced and saw a car slam on its brakes and then immediately speed up again. I couldn't tell what happened because of the shrubbary blocking the street. So I

A cat ran into my car once. Strangest thing; it came out of the woods and, like, hit me. Stopped the car to look, couldn't find anything - at least, I didn't kill it - but remained extremely upset by the incident for several hours thereafter. Because I'm the type of girl who would rather drive her car into a ditch than run over an animal. :(

i've seen two cats get hit by cars in front of me, it is awful. it sounds kinda like (as bad as this visual is) a soda can being crunched. but yea..you would of known im sure.
but if you would of heard the noise - and it would of been hit you would of seen it. if it did run off and you didn't notice it anywhere then it is most likely fine. animals are pretty good at taking wide hits (like if it hit a bumper because it jumped..etc..) and running a little dazed but good.
and ouch on the $2000 of equipment.
