Why vote for Jim Martin? He has been around, losing races for Democrats, since forever. Vernon Jones is a creep. Cardwell is strange. I'm thinking of casting my lot with Rand Knight. At least he would go down in flames with some new ideas being presented. Martin would just put everyone to sleep before losing in a crushing defeat to Chambliss.

I have to admit I kind of like Knight. It'll be fun to watch him play Don Quixote all summer since I don't think he can beat Saxby. Knight won't play well outside of the metro area - he's too smart and too smug about it. Martin can raise the cash to give Saxby a run for his money. He lost to Cagle in a year when Georgia Republicans rolled to victory in all but two statewide contested races, increased their lead in the General Assembly, and nearly took out two incumbent congressmen. No Democrat had a prayer of taking an open seat in '06, so saying Martin can't win a statewide race because he lost two years ago is disingenuous.

But if Knight wins the nomination, I'll be rooting for him - and voting for him in November. If Jones wins, I'll be voting Libertarian.
