good things the past few weeks

Hey, look, it's 1 am and I should really be asleep! What better time for one of my totally sporadic updates? Yeah. It's been a good week. I've been wanting to share. It's been a hectic past few weeks, with a few spots of UberStress, but overall, good ( Read more... )

Your new place sounds fabulous! Hope you're happy there. :)

Omg, PR. I can't wait. I so want to go. I'm considering bribing the parentals into not getting uppity about it. And HENRY!!!! When Aja told me I could hardly believe it. How cool!

It would be so lovely if you can come to PR! I hope there's a way to make it work.

Me too. The money shouldn't be an issue, really. The only two things are getting the time off to go and...what's New Orleans like at this point? I know the government hasn't done anything to really help out down there, so I don't imagine it's cleaned up?

No, New Orleans has been cleaned up... in the tourist areas, at least. The parts we're going to be in and near for PR will be plenty safe and clean and restored to full functionality. There are definitely other areas - especially poor areas inhabited by people of color - that aren't nearly as cleaned up. But it's going to be fine for the PR experience, will not impact us. (Unless you're me/Aja/V/Lissa who are going to be doing citizen journalism before PR in part *about* the poor areas. :D)

I like your icon! My dad has always called me Eureka. This makes me wonder if you've gotten that too. :-)

Hehe! I can totally see you as Eureka! Nope, I actually haven't been called that, but it was something I thought of in choosing the icon. I actually didn't make this one - my friend cincodemaygirl did. She's a prolific, and fantastic, icon-maker. I used to be pretty decent at making icons (I miss the design on many of the ones I used on my old journals that I decided not to migrate here), but I don't have a good photo editor anymore. So all my icons are made by others for now ( ... )

we all contorted our names so they could end in an i, because that's what the girls in the Babysitters' Club did

Hee! Except for Mal. She was so lame.

FWIW, I'll be at Kol Nidre services on Sunday night. Miss you! Glad you're back someplace that I know how to get to a bit easier -- might facilitate more frequent meet-ups :) Are you ever free for lunch on Fridays? I have half-days, so I can come to you.

P.S. Is blog group an open-membership type thing? I think I'd like to come to one.

Hey!

That's excellent you'll be at KN Sunday. If you get there a little early (recommended for seating), we oughta even be able to sit together.

I could probably be free for lunch some Friday. I've gott errands to do today but let's see... maybe even next week! Let me get back to you. But that would be great.

Yeah, blog group is utterly open. You can come to any of 'em you like :D.

What time is a good time to arrive on Sunday, knowing that I'm not afraid to arrive too early if it means getting a spot against a wall :)

Services start at 5:45 sharp. I'd say go ahead and aim for 5:15, and beat the rush of people aiming for 5:30.

Hey there, you! Cool to read something from you, and to hear that you're doing well. Reading you mention of the Hav made me miss it--I was also in touch with Larry Rosenwald, which had a similar effect!

Shanah tovah, take care, and be in touch!

Hey! I miss having you around here, especially at the holidays. I was thinking of you at RH.

I hope you'll find someplace nice to to in Michigan...

Yeah, I deleted my innitial comment so that I could post a longer version. Sorry about any confusion there!

I'm hoping to find places here--so far have checked out a Reconstructionist minyan, and the Conservative and Reform services at Hillel. At least for Rosh Hashanah, the Conservative services were led by a new Reconstructionist rabbi who knows Rabbi Toba Spitzer from Boston. I like him, so I'm likely to go there for Yom Kippur. We shall see!

Take care--really good to talk with you. I'm still using my bostoncoop.net address if you want to write at any point (which is NOT a passive-aggressive way of telling you to e-mail me!).

It's so exciting that you're this happy and connected to who you are and what you want to be doing. And I'm already so excited see you again!

Ooh yes, and we need to pick a day. This coming week, I can only do Tuesday - I had forgotten about Yom Kippur also being Monday (rather than just some weird extension of Sunday, who knows what I was thinking), and I have an appointment Wednesday, blog group Thursday, Sukkot Friday. So ah, does that work for you? Otherwise let's look to the next week...

Tuesday will be great! We can meet up after work and go to the store together to get dinner stuff. Sound good?

Oh! And we found out that they're not getting married until Thanksgiving weekend, so we're totally there for your party. We wouldn't miss it for the world. *hugs*
