Pertwee becomes the latest UK actor to take the role of Sherlock’s somewhat-incompetent Scotland Yard inspector

Lestrade is not anymore incompetent then Gregson--in the ACD stories, Holmes himself refers to Lestrade "as the best of the Scotland Yarders."

Now of course, everyone pales in comparison as a detective to Sherlock, but there has never been any evidence that Lestrade isn't a good policeman.

I am looking forward to seeing Sherlock and Joan interacting with both Mycroft and Lestrade--hopefully even more backstory will be revealed.

I wouldn't say that the BBC Sherlock version of Lestrade is incompetent either. And I agree that everyone pales in comparison to Sherlock.

And so, Elementary continues to snap up actors from the Twelfth Doctor casting pool. At this rate, we'll be able to predict which actor will get the Doctor Who part based solely on who is NOT appearing in Elementary next season. :-P
