So I actually got emails yesterday after my vent telling me that I was wrong, and that it is standard etiquette to be able to bring an uninvited guest. And I was feeling all better after I vented, thinking that I wouldn't have to deal with it again.

I didn't say anything because I thought it was ridiculously obvious, but I've always known an invitation needed to say "And Guest" for a guest to be welcome, and that while it was common for single, older invitees to have such a notation it was hardly expected...so there's at least one more person who understood it to be common knowledge that you're right and they're idiots.

People suck. Tell them to f*** off.

Ya know, like I said, I've haven't been to many weddings, so I asked a few people about this. Just whether they thought it was okay to rsvp more people when they weren't on the invite to a wedding. I was just curious to see what other people thought, and they all said that it would be very rude to rsvp with more people than who were on the invite, so it's not just me! So, I just don't understand why whoever is doing this to you guys is doing it...I'm confused...and I'm sorry you have to go through it. I'd be pissed.
