*Hmm? Venom freezes in place when he hears something. The white spheres stay in place for a few moments before dissolving. The assassin readies his cue, but he doesn't attack. It could simply be his ears playing tricks on him, or it could be someone he knows.*

[Meanwhile, on the other side of the park, another mage is at practice after a long day. After a rather unfortunate run-in along the riverbanks, Jade's taken to practicing in the park instead. He's already run through his base artes a few times, as a warm-up.]

[He's just about to start on his daily training routine when a stray billiard ball sails past him. The ball bounces off a tree, and while Jade isn't in the line of fire, he decides to neutralise it anyway.]

O darkened storm cloud...

[He doesn't even need to use the full verse to cast the spell. He takes aim at the moving billiard ball, and with considerable accuracy, hits it with a bolt of lightning.]

*Venom catches a flash of light out of the corner of his eye. He's confused as he could have sworn it was lightning. He decides to keep an eye on the sky in case it does rain.

He tosses up another billiard ball. With a bit of concentration, Venom jumps high enough to smack the ball high into the sky*

[What's this, now? Jade turns to see a second billiard shooting high into the sky. It's barely within casting range, but if he times this next spell just right, he might be able to hit it.]

O brilliance, show you wrath. Photon!

[He uses the leftover fonons from his previous arte to shape an entirely different spell from his usual Energy Blast. Ring-like glyphs of hard light snare the ball as it falls back to earth, which then crush the billiard completely.]

[His target eliminated, Jade starts to walk in the direction that the balls came from. It's time for a bit of investigation.]

*The bright flash temporarily blinds Venom. He carefully opens his eyes, noticing that one of his higher cue balls was missing. It dissolved well before the others despite being released at the same time.*

Odd. Perhaps it was just weaker than the others.

*He lets the others dissolve while he focuses on short-range cue attacks*
