None of this sat well with Leonardo. All he had was himself and his own wits and a few knives and a bokken; there was no chance he'd be able to protect Raph if things got hairy.
But what other choice he had?
He could've waited to see if the spirals really were dangerous; Raphael's words rang in his mind, about the crew or the captain having done something to the "infected" passengers to make them that way, but-
Ugh. Ugh. He just didn't know.
Hopefully everyone would be prompt, at the very least. Timing would be everything. Leonardo jogged up the stairs from deck ten and made his way to the stern.
Raphael licked his lips anxiously as he prowled down the hallway towards the aft stairwell, a sai in each of his hands. Beneath his annoyed expression was a simmering raging energy just waiting to be released; his mouth was dry like a coke addict's and he ground his teeth like a kid coming back from a rave
( ... )
Meifeng narrowed her eyes. It was clear which was the infected, and it was bad, too, it had spread even further than she would have liked. Bargaining with someone this far gone would be useless, especially considering Raphael's build and those hand-made weapons -- pretty creative, she had to admit -- on top of all that rage.
Shifting her weight just slightly, she leaned down from the ceiling, steadied her aim, and fired the dart into Raphael's uninfected bicep.
For now, she stayed in position, though she was no longer concerned with masking her presence. It'd be easier to hit him with a second dart if he needed it from up here.
When Raphael showed his face, Leonardo knew that the crew hadn't been lying.
There was a glimmer of insanity in his eyes...and part of his brother missing. But he wasn't too late. Please don't let us be too late.
"Raph," he started, taking a step forward, but there was a swift sound above them and automatically Leonardo lurched toward Raph before catching himself. It had to be Kage or Meifeng; a glance in the direction of the sound confirmed that there was someone up there, but it wasn't Kage.
The knives made their way into his hands, just in case.
