The party's not quite his idea of fun, but there is booze and racing involved, and those are two of Jak's favorite things ever. Not to mention he's sulking since Keira blew him off, so he trudged down to the party to see who else would be there.
That ... takes him by surprise, and Jak pauses. Maybe he was responsible for it. Maybe, in a roundabout way, his actions and the orders he followed allowed the Metal Heads to get into the city. But none of it was intentional. If he'd known it was happening, if he'd been smart enough to connect the dots, he could have refused. Could have stopped it.
But he didn't, and all he could do was fight to get back to the city to clean up the mess and fix everything that had happened, no matter where the blame lay. Haven was his city, and it deserved a second chance. That city was worth fighting for.
This time, Jak's smile is a little less forced, and a lot more grateful.
