It seems empty for a party, but Pickles doesn't mind. He doesn't even notice Herz as he trundles right on in, still only clad in the underwear he showed up in. His trusty bottle of whiskey is set on the table, and he starts piling a plate dangerously full of chips, making something of a mess as he does so.

That guy's practically naked!
Not that...Herz is a stranger to the male form, but Christ!
The teenager quickly ducks into the kitchen, grabs one of the jackets he keeps around for when they spend a lot of time looking around the walk in freezer, and runs back out.
He walks up to--man, this guy is messy, doesn't he care if anyone else wants those chips?--the guy. "Uh--Uhm, do...you, well, I mean y-you're kinda--You aren't wea--here." and he holds out the jacket for him. For God's sake, put something on. At least wrap it around your waist!

"Heh, saaaarry. Guess I'm not dressed classy enough fer yer... fer yer party, not very classy." His words are even more slurred than usual, and if it isn't already clear that he was smashed, his uncoordinated attempts to get his arms into the coat certainly make it so.

Oh.... um. Hello there.
[He sets down the plate he'd grabbed to give him a polite nod. Erk, that was a little rude maybe.]
...um, is this stuff out here for us to take, like at the buffet?

Go for it.
It--i-it's meant to be a party...
[It's...not much of one, but it's meant to be.]

"Herz? I'm Fred Cassidy."
With friendly smile, Fred offers his hand to shake. He's socially deft enough for two.

It's nice, but...unsettling. He's not here to shank him, is he?
Herz takes his hand and gives it a shake that pretty much says everything about him as a person.
"Thanks for--f-for coming. Please, uh, please take a plate or--or get something fruh-from the bar--Remy's a great bar-tender." As he speaks, he motions to the table, then the bar and...is still holding Fred's hand.
It's a nice hand...

"Thank you for hosting," Fred volleys back easily.
When the shake has gone on too long, he extricates his hand from Herz's without comment, or indeed, even really noticing that Herz is a bit too clingy. Fred just chalks it up to the boy's obvious social nervousness, and moves along, conversationally speaking.
"Ah, is that Remy?" he says, looking over at the bar. "I have something for him." Fred pulls open one side of his sport coat with an exaggeratedly conspiratorial air, revealing a dozen or so vanilla beans sticking out of the breast pocket of his oxford shirt.

"I...hope he--he likes them?"

Maybe she should just talk to someone? She looks around, seeing if anyone catches her eye, or if she recognizes people.]

He waits for someone to order a drink.]

So like, is this an open bar or something? [She grins, she hasn't met him before, but she's still smiling away. She's a friendly sort.]

[He offers a charming smile. He's nothing if not charismatic.]
I'm Remy. What can I get you?
Reply
Uh let's see...have ya got whiskey back there? [She knows he does, but it never hurts to ask and be polite.]
