Deuce appeared next to Ace, seemingly walking out from behind an invisible curtain. Distaste pinched his face as he took off his hat and inspected it; men were made to travel on foot, not flicker from place to place.

He looked up. "They are only lies if they are not true, caro. I speak only the truth, much to Dado's great shame."

When he settled his eyes on his brother's, ah, shill, Deuce couldn't help himself. He burst out laughing. "Ma reine owes me money," he told Ace as he bent to kiss the man's cheeks in greeting. "Sastipe."

Months. Months, and Russ still jumped every fucking time Ace did that.

Hissing between his teeth in surprise, he dropped his cigarette into the ashtray and leaned back, draping an arm around Ace's shoulder to cup the back of his neck. "Was wonderin' when you'd show up."

His eyebrow twitched in surprise at the incredible family resemblance between his lover and the scruffier, younger man. No kidding they were brothers. Grimacing in painfully uptight good humor at the kisses, Russ cleared his throat and picked up his cigarette, watching the man with an evaluating eye.

"Yeah, sastipe. You Deuce then?"
